FOCCUS in Full Swing
October 15th and FOCCUS is in full swing. After we were blessed by an act of God right before the meeting, we had our first lesson of the year led by our very own Mark Nakhla who showed us a few things about "Swimming Like A Sal-a-mon" through diagrams, arm motions, and other good stuff like that. Starting this week, we hope to record and post all the lessons given in FOCCUS online for future reference and/or people who were not able to make it to the meeting. The lesson can be heard below:
Also, some decisions were made regarding FOCCUS T-shirts, which we are hoping to have ready in time for the Coptic Clubs Meeting on November 21st. We have finished the design and need to collect money from those who want a FOCCUS T-Shirt before we can make the order. If you would like a T-shirt, please contact one of the FOCCUS members and get your money in.
(Cost: $14)
After the meeting we went as a group to support one of our own at an event put on by the American Cancer Society to increase breast cancer awareness. FOCCUS was on the scene at the ACS Pink Party...
FOCCUS will have guest speakers for the next 5 weeks, bringing us right up to Thanksgiving and the last meeting of Fall quarter. Check out the calendar at the top right corner of the page to see what's coming up!!
Next week, we will be blessed to begin a new series with George Bassilios as we address the question, "Does God Exist?" Don't miss it!

Our First Meeting
F.O.C.C.U.S. had its first meeting of the 2008-2009 school year Wednesday, October 1st. We had a great time as we discussed some of our plans and events for the upcoming year as well as our new T-shirts. After that, we kicked off the year with a night of Midnight Praise. Quite refreshing indeed.
After Tasbeha, we took a little trip on the one and only B-BUS!!! And it was awesome, even though some people were not as enthusiastic as others... cough cough. Anyways, here are some pictures from our first meeting.
To get information about events, upcoming meetings, or to just keep in contact with other FOCCUS members, please join our Facebook group "F.O.C.C.U.S. @ UCD"

Our Mission: FOCCUS YOURSELF!!!
College years... So many questions, so many choices. The 1st question, what school am I going to? We already got that out of the way. Should I get a bike or just take the bus? What classes should I take? And the list goes on and on.
One issue that comes up for most of us is how to prioritize all the stuff we need to handle. What should I focus on? It is easy to get caught up with all the classes, office hours, exams, new people, etc, but it's essential to our success to keep focused on a goal. That way we don't lose sight of what we are trying to achieve amidst the heavy workload and other tasks.
There are a lot of people that don't have Christ as their focus in life. Our classmates, our teachers, the myriad of bikers on campus, the guy getting lunch at the Coffee House (CoHo :D), the girl reading over her notes in the quad need to hear the sweet story of the Savior who gave His life to save their souls as well as ours. There are so many people out their focusing on all kinds of goals, but what they don't know is that Christ is the goal that has everything they will ever want and need; Who's going to tell them?
The Lord has provided us with this great opportunity and this F.O.C.C.U.S. Now, He is waiting to see what we will do with it.
So 2 questions remain...

So what is our focus as Christians? Well, St. Paul gives a hint to that.
"Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart."
